Goldey-Beacom went up two in the first half but Georgian Court answers back in the second half to tie the game. At the end of regulation and the first overtime, the score remained 2-2. In the second overtime, Georgian Court finished its chance to win the game 3-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.
Goldey-Beacom struck first in the 33rd minute when sophomore Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE) passed the ball to freshman Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE), who put the ball away in the back of the net. The Speaks/Immediato duo struck again when Immediato made a pass to Speaks, who placed the ball in the back of the net and put the Lightning up 2-0 at halftime.
Georgian Court answered in the second half in the 55th minute when Krystal Hund makes a small pass to Heather Arbachesky, who struck the ball into the back of the net. Georgian Court didn't stop there. In the 70th minute, Kaitlin Lister dribbled the ball down the field and buried it in the back of the net from 25 yards to tie the game.
The game remained in a tie after the first overtime but Georgian Court capitalizes in the second overtime. Arbachesky crosses the ball from the left side to Krystal Hund puts the ball in the back of the net to put Georgian Court up 3-2 in sudden death overtime.
Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE) attempted three shots, Immediato had two and Speaks attempted one for the Lightning. Marta Lopez (Valencia, Spain) made eight saves.
Hund attempted seven shots and Arbachesky attempted six for Georgian Court. Natalie Axelsson faced six shots and made two saves.
Goldey-Beacom is on the road on Saturday October 6 for a doubleheader with the Men's soccer team vs. Bloomfield in Bloomfield, NJ. The women kick off at 1:30 pm and the men start at 3:45 pm.
