Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Falls, 1-0, at No. 15 Bloomsburg



Goldey-Beacom battled but fell short 1-0 to Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, PA. Bloomsburg is ranked 15th in the county and is the third ranked team the Lightning have faced this season.

Goldey-Beacom battled in the first half but was outshot 8-2. Bloomsburg took six corner kicks on GBC in the first half, but was unable to capitalize on any. The game remained scoreless at halftime.

The Lightning continued to battle in the second half but were out shot again 10-4. Bloomsburg got the edge on Goldey-Beacom when a foul was called inside the box in the 71st minute for a penalty kick. Natalie Holmes for Bloomsburg stepped up to take the kick and struck the ball into the back of the net. Goldey-Beacom battled until the end but the game ended 1-0.

Junior Samantha Carey (Marilla, N.Y.) attempted three shots with Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland), fellow senior Sophie Greenwood (Burnley, England) and freshman Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE,) all taking one shot for the Lightning. Senior Marta Lopez (Valencia, Spain) made six saves.

Natalie Holmes, Lauren Hoelke, and Bryce Watts all attempted three shots each for Bloomsburg. Olivia Schantz made five saves.

Goldey-Beacom is away on Saturday vs. Nyack in a doubleheader with men's team in Nyack, NY. The women kick off at noon and the men go at 2:30 pm.
