Women’s Soccer Beats Nyack 2-1

Goldey-Beacom battled to a 2-1 victory over Nyack in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up in Nyack, NY.

The Lightning struck first in the eighth minute when a shot was taken but deflected. Freshman Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE.) was there to tap in the deflection to put Goldey-Beacom ahead. Nyack responded in the 14th minute when Camila Parada crossed the ball to Milena Ricken who placed the ball in the back of the net. The game remained tied at half time. Goldey-Beacom outshot Nyack 14-4 in the first half.

Goldey-Beacom continued to put pressure on Nyack in the second half. In the 51st minute, junior Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE.) took the ball herself and ripped the ball into the back of the net. Fannon's goal put the Lightning up to win the game. The Lightning out shot Nyack 13-1 in the second half.

Fannon attempted 10 shots, senior Sophie Greenwood (Burnley, England) had five, Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) recorded four with sophomores Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE.) and Taylor Owen (Pittsburgh, PA.) getting three each for Goldey-Beacom (13-4, 10-1 CACC). Senior Marta Lopez made one save.

Chole Antalek, Camila Parada, Amber Carter, Milena Ricken and Brooklyn McFadden all attempted one shot each for Nyack (4-9-1, 4-6-1). Nicole Benesch made 13 saves.

Goldey-Beacom is home on Wednesday vs. Wilmington University at 3:00 pm in Wilmington, DE.
