Men’s Soccer Falls, 5-3, to Bridgeport

Goldey-Beacom stepped out of league play for the final time this season and was dealt a 5-3 loss by Bridgeport at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

The game was level, 2-2, before Bridgeport grabbed a 3-2 lead in the 51st minute.  Luis Cari fed a corner in the box that Lucas Santos headed in for his third goal of the season.

GBC got a great goal from senior Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) in the 58th minute to level the match.  Junior Nicolas Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) fed a long pass on the right side to Aghrim, who put a great shot inside the left post for his third goal of the year.

Aghrim now is in sole possession of fifth place in team history with 20 goals and his 68 points keep him fourth.

Jesse Clark scored in the 73rd minute to give the Purple Knights a 4-3 lead, knocking in a pass from Erlend Skagestad off the goalkeeper.  Clark scored his third of the year in the 78th minute off Shinchiro Hirai's feed and a misplay in the box for the final.

Aghrim attempted five shots and senior Pablo Londono (Miami, FL) made 10 saves for the Lightning (4-10-1).

Goncalo Mendes had seven shots off the bench with Daniel Coviella making three saves for the Purple Knights (8-4).

Jaramillo and senior Callum Flynn (Guildford, England) scored in the first half for Goldey-Beacom with Skagestad and Jhonah George-Felipe tallying for Bridgeport.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Saturday at Nyack as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men's game starts at 2:30 pm, which follows the women's noon match.
