Goldey-Beacom got a second-half goal from sophomore Ethan Maguire (Sydney, Australia), but that was all the offense it could generate in a 1-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tie at Nyack in Nyack, NY.
Nyack wasted no time in the first half. In the second minute of the half, Nicholas Scarafile took a corner kick where Daniel Larson headed the ball into the back of the net. Goldey-Beacom outshot Nyack 6-5 in the first half.
The Lightning continued to fight. Late in the second half, junior Jamie McAvoy (Ayr, Scotland) crossed the ball into the box where Maguire volleyed it over the goalkeeper's head. The game remained tied and went into overtime.
In the first overtime, Nyack outshot Goldey-Beacom 2-1 but the game remained tied. Overtime number two was again dominated by Nyack, which outshot GBC 2-0. Maguire's late second half goal was the tying goal that helped the Lightning earn a tie at the end of two overtimes.
Junior Nicolas Jaramillo (Cali, Columbia) attempted four shots, Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil), fellow sophomore Nicholas Ladeira (Johannesburg, South Africa), Maguire and senior Guilherme Barbosa (Sao Paulo, Brazil) all attempted two each for the Lightning. Sophomore Cole Lewis (Middletown, DE.) made four saves for Goley-Beacom (4-10-2, 3-5-2 CACC).
Mitchell Reed attempted three shots, Paul Montufar, Alex Garcia and Javier Fernandez all attempted two shots for Nyack (1-13-1, 0-9-1). Alvaro Magel made five saves .
Goldey-Beacom is home next on Tuesday vs. Wilmington University at 3:30 pm in Wilmington, DE.
