Women’s Soccer Breaks the School Record for Most League Victories With 9-0 Victory Over Concordia (NY)



With an all around team performance on senior day, Goldey-Beacom broke the school record for most league victories in a season with a 9-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Concordia (NY) in Wilmington, DE.

Goldey-Beacom took the lead in the first half when junior Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE.) made a pass from the left side to sophomore Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE.) who put the ball in the back of the net. The Lightning continued to make strides in the 21st minute when freshman Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE.) played the ball to senior Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) who placed the ball in the bottom right corner of the net. Goldey-Beacom struck again two minutes later when Immediato played a through ball to Fannon who ripped a shot into the lower right corner of the net. The Lightning went up 3-0.

Goldey-Beacom continued to put the pressure on Concordia (NY). In the 29th minute senior Marta Lopez (Valencia, Spain) punted the ball that went to Speaks who took a few dibbles and ripped the ball into the net. Not even a minute after Speaks' goal, Sophie Greenwood (Burnley, England) played a through ball to Fannon who placed the ball in the lower right corner. The Lightning continued to have a strong performance when Crammond placed a corner kick into the box to junior Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway) who headed the ball into the back of the net. Goldey-Beacom was up 6-0 at the end of the first half. 

Goldey-Beacom struck early in the second half when senior Lauren Larmanis (Sicklersville, N.J.) crossed the ball to Crammond who ripped a shot into the top right corner. The Lightning continued to look strong in the 57th minute when Speaks tapped a shot in from five yards out. Concordia (NY) continued to put up a fight but Goldey-Beacom kept on rolling. In the 70th minute sophomore Ali Henriquez (Hoboken, N.J.) completed a pass to Immediato who placed the ball in the back of the net. Concordia (NY) continued to fight but fell short. Goldey-Beacom won the game 9-0 with an all around team performance. 

The Lightning outshot the Clippers 24-7. Fannon attempted six shots, Speaks attempted five, Crammond attempted four and Immediato attempted three shots for the Lightning. Lopez made two saves and sophomore Krista Salvadore (Cape May Court House, N.J.) made one save for Goldey-Beacom.

Kayla Lanza attempted three shots, Dayna Darcy and Miranda Merino both attempted two shots for Concordia (NY). Jocelyn Hellier made seven saves for Concordia (NY).

Goldey-Beacom is on the road next in an out-of-conference match up against Bloomsburg University on Wednesday at 7:00 pm in Bloomsburg, PA.
