Women’s Soccer Rolls Past Chestnut Hill 4-0

Goldey-Beacom rolled past Chestnut Hill, 4-0, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up in Plymouth Meeting, PA.

Goldey-Beacom struck first in the 15th minute when Chestnut Hill produced a foul in the box. Senior Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) stepped up to take the penalty kick and placed the ball in the back of the net to put the Lightning up, 1-0.

The Lightning did not stop there. In the 21st minute, sophomore Taylor Owen (Pittsburgh, Pa.) passed the ball from the left side to Crammond who struck the ball into the bottom left corner of the net to put Goldey-Beacom up 2-0 at the end of the first half.

Goldey-Beacom continued to put the pressure on Chestnut Hill. In the 58th minute.  Junior Samantha Carey (Marilla, N.Y.) centered the ball to junior Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE.) who ripped a shot that deflected off a defender's back into the goal for a 3-0 margin.

The Lightning once again did not stop there.  In the 61st minute, Goldey-Beacom took a free kick from a foul by Chestnut Hill. Crammond took the kick that was headed to the right side of the goal by Fannon and was tapped in by senior Sophie Woods (Manchester, England) for the final.

Goldey-Beacom outshot Chestnut Hill 34-9 with Crammond attempting nine shots, sophomore Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE.) getting six and Fannon recording five. Senior Marta Lopez (Valencia, Spain) made five saves for Goldey-Beacom (11-3, 8-1 CACC).

The Lightning tied the school record with their eighth conference win to match that accomplishment from 2001, 2002, 2016 and 2017.

Gabby Fanfarillo, Haley Oneill and Sabrina Shinkowitz all attempted two shots each for Chestnut Hill. Paris Banks had six saves for Chestnut Hill (2-9-1, 1-7-1) and Leah Peshkin recorded four.

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against Concordia (NY) for a doubleheader with the men's team in Wilmington, DE. The women kick off at 12:30 pm and the men go at 3:00 pm.
