Donte McGill (Newark, DE), who made a major splash in his time with Goldey-Beacom's men's basketball squad, has been acquired by the Delaware 87ers from the available player pool.
McGill had an exceptional 2013-14 campaign for the Lightning, in which he was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year and Honorable Mention All-Conference. The five-time CACC Rookie of the Week averaged 15.1 points that season to close 11th in the league, shot 45 percent from the floor and scored in double figures 13 of the last 14 games of the season.
McGill that season had an .883 free throw percentage (106-for-120), which remains the school's single-season record. His 106 free throws are sixth in the team's single-season annals.
The 87ers are the NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers.
