Anna Hortelano Pey Named to Weekly Honor Roll

A great run for Goldey-Beacom at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association East Region Championship saw freshman Fredrika Regner (Langaryd, Sweden) named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week a second straight week and sophomore Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) tabbed to the Weekly Honor Roll.

Regner teamed with Hortelano Pey to advance to the ITA East Region Championship final. The 12th-seeded unit beat two higher seeded teams before falling Monday to second-seeded Alessia Rossetti and Leah Dimmer from New York Tech, 6-0, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5). One of those wins was against freshmen teammates Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands) and Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal), 9-7, in the semifinals.

The duo now is 9-1 overall and 4-0 in dual play.

In singles, the ninth-seeded Hortelano Pey upset second-seeded Karla Miletic from University of the Sciences in the quarterfinals before falling to No. 4 seed Liza Dubrovskaya from Post in the semifinals. Miletic is the reigning Player and Rookie of the Year in the CACC.

Hortelano Pey is 8-1 this season in singles, including 4-0 in dual matches.

Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday is at Delcastle Tennis Center for a big league match against Wilmington (DE), starting at 3:00 pm.
