Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Back on Winning Track with 2-1 Triumph at NYIT

Seniors Lorenzo Gama (Bali, Indonesia) and Mateus Silvestre (Picarras, Brazil) each scored to help Goldey-Beacom end its two-game skid with a 2-1 victory at New York Tech in Old Westbury, NY.

Goldey-Beacom (5-3) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute.  Sophomore Levi Maruca (Downingtown, PA) had his shot saved by Jonathan Rico and Gama put home the rebound for his first goal of the season and fifth career.

New York Tech (3-4) leveled things in the 61st minute when Marcos Enriquez placed a crossing pass to Kevin Martinez, who buried the shot for his first goal of the season.

But the Lightning regained the lead, 2-1, in the 67th minute.  Junior Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) had the ball on the left and put one in the box for Silvestre, who found the back of the net for his second goal of the season and ninth career.

Aghrim's 14th career assist now put him in sole possession of sixth place in school history.

Gama had three shots and junior Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) made seven saves for the Lightning.

Ion Barbarin Garcia attempted three shots and Rico came up with two saves for the Bears, who held a 16-9 shots edge.

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against Bloomfield in a 1:00 pm match.
