Volleyball Drops a Pair at Ramfest



Goldey-Beacom played tough in both of its matches, but was handed a 3-1 loss (25-19, 10-25, 22-25, 22-25) by Franklin Pierce and a 3-0 setback (13-25, 13-25, 17-25) by West Chester in West Chester, PA.
 
GBC in its match with Franklin Pierce rolled in the first set with a 14-2 kills edge to go with a .312 hitting percentage.  The Ravens then took the next three sets despite the Lightning ending with a 44-29 kills advantage that included 15-6 in the third set.
 
Freshman Breanne Haley (Elkton, MD) continued her impressive start with 21 kills, 19 digs and a .288 hitting percentage for the Lightning.  Morgan Andrews (Wilmington, DE) had 15 digs with fellow freshman Sydney Fulton (Wilmington, DE) amassing 12.
 
Danielle Varricchio totaled 12 kills and 14 digs with Hannah Runge getting 15 digs and 11 assists for Franklin Pierce (2-1).
 
West Chester was simply too much, recording a 37-22 kills advantage with a .259 hitting percentage.  The Lightning did hang tough in the third set by forging a 13-13 tie, but the Rams scored the next five points to seize control.
 
Haley totaled 11 kills and 16 digs, Andrews had 19 digs and Fulton recorded 13 assists for the Lightning (1-3).
 
Karleigh Lutz had 13 kills, Nicki Yates notched 14 digs, Alex Gleason added 10 and Jillian Grammer recorded 27 assists for the Golden Rams (4-0).
 
Goldey-Beacom is off until September 12, when it visits East Stroudsburg for a 7:00 pm match.
