Women’s Volleyball Falls Twice at Kutztown Classic



Goldey-Beacom had a tough go of it at the Kutztown Classic as it fell 3-1 (25-21, 10-25, 20-25, 22-25) to Kutztown and 3-0 (18-25, 17-25, 20-25) to West Chester in Kutztown, PA.
 
Goldey-Beacom in the first set against Kutztown pounded 10 kills and at one point led on the scoreboard, 16-9.  But Kuztown in the second owned a 12-6 kills edge and then won two closely contested sets to close the match.
 
Freshman Breanne Haley (Elkton, MD) had 13 kills and 14 digs for her sixth double-double of the season.  Sydney Fulton (Wilmington, DE) notched 27 assists and nine digs, fellow freshman Morgan Andrews (Wilmington, DE) had 14 digs and junior Megann Santiago (Levittown, NY) added 10 for the Lightning.
 
Brittney Moyer pounded 13 kills, Madisyn Kleinfelter notched 27 assists and Sydney Wilson had 25 digs for the Bears (5-6).
 
West Chester in the second match recorded a 41-25 kills advantage with 15 kills in each of the first two sets, ending with a .218 overall hitting percentage.
 
Haley closed with seven kills and 10 digs, Fulton recorded 20 assists and sophomore Makinsie Balderson (Fairfax, VA) had six kills for the Lightning (2-7).
 
Abbie Dischert and Amy Kovacs notched 10 kills apiece, Jillian Grammer dished 29 assists and Nicki Yates amassed 18 digs for the Golden Rams (10-1).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday visits Holy Family for a 7:00 pm match.
