Women’s Tennis Cruises to 9-0 Win Over Caldwell

Goldey-Beacom dropped just nine games and remained undefeated with a 9-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Caldwell at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.

Senior Raquel Morais (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and sophomore Silvia Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) got things rolling for GBC (3-0, 2-0 CACC) at third doubles with an 8-0 win over Claudia Romano and Amy Tang. Freshmen Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands) and Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal) teamed for an 8-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles over Valeria Otarola and Rebecca Ryan with sophomore Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) and freshman Fredrika Regner (Langaryd, Sweden) notching an 8-2 win at second doubles over Janis Jimenez and Shannon Donaldson.

Lesscher y Post recorded a 6-2, 6-1 victory at first singles over Otarola, Zheng got a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over Ryan with Anna Hortelano Pey posting a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at third singles over Jimenez. Regner notched a 6-1, 6-1 win at fourth singles over Donaldson, sophomore Alma Garcia Valle (Valladolid, Spain) posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles over Romano with junior Manuela Cornejo (Quito, Ecuador) getting a 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles over Tang.

It is Goldey-Beacom's 10th straight win over Caldwell (2-2, 0-1) with nine coming by 9-0 scores. It also is the Lightning's 11th straight regular season conference win.

Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday is on the road to face Jefferson, formally Philadelphia University, in a 4:00 pm contest.
