Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Notches 4-0 Victory Over Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom put on the pressure early to improve its best start in school history with a 4-0 triumph over Chestnut Hill at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning got on the board early with junior Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) finding the back of the net, firing home a 30-yard shot in the fourth minute for her 11th career goal.

Alanna Speaks (Wilmington, DE), the reigning CACC Player and Rookie of the Week, made it 2-0 in the 14th minute with her fourth goal of the season.  She took a pass from freshman Taylor Owen (East Pennsboro, PA) and finished from 10 yards.

Senior Amy Runciman (Luton, England) tallied in the 53rd minute off a feed from freshman Emily Woolvin (Brierley Hill, England) for her fourth goal of the year and senior Elena Power (Glassboro, NJ) scored in the 73rd minute for her third of the season.

Runciman now has 23 career goals, moving her into fourth place in school history.  Her 72 career points places her in a tie for third with April Yanacek (2003-06).

Owen attempted seven shots, freshman Jessica Diamond (Burlington, NJ) notched five and junior Marta Lopez (Valencia, Spain) played 79 minutes in net for the Lightning.

Jacquelyn Rhodes attempted two shots and Leah Peshkin made 12 saves for the Griffins (0-4, 0-2 CACC).

In addition to its best overall start, GBC (4-0-1, 3-0) moved to its best league start since opening 3-0 in 2006.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday visits Felician for a 5:30 pm match.
