Breanne Haley Sets Kills Record in Volleyball’s 3-1 Win Over USciences

GBC clinches first CACC Tournament berth since 2006

Freshman Breanne Haley (Elkton, MD) broke the College's single-season kills record and Goldey-Beacom improved its chances of making the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 3-1 victory (25-16, 18-25, 25-20, 25-12) over University of the Sciences at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning also learned they have clinched a berth in the CACC Tournament for the first time since 2006.  They will hit the road to face either Caldwell or Post on Tuesday at a time to be determined.

Haley pounded 19 kills to give her 441 on the season, breaking the mark of 440 set by Kadi McCoy in 2014.  The kills from the five-time CACC Rookie of the Week are just 42 off the school's career top 10 list.

This went a long way in GBC getting a 40-34 kills edge with a .223 hitting percentage.  The Lightning had 13 kills in the first set with 11 in each of the last two.

Senior Jax Babezki (Warrington, PA) notched 12 kills, eight digs and a .400 percentage for the Lightning.  Freshman Sydney Fulton (Wilmington, DE) had 27 assists, Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) notched 14 and fellow junior Megann Santiago (Levittown, NY) added 16 digs.

Sarah Miller had eight kills, Rhiannon Cornia played great with 19 digs and Abigail Miller amassed 25 assists for the Devils (6-16, 4-14 CACC).

GBC (12-17, 10-8 CACC) clinches a winning conference record for the first time since 2006 and is tied for third place in the CACC South Division with Georgian Court (10-8).  Wilmington (9-9) is one match behind.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Saturday looking to secure a berth in the conference tournament as it faces Caldwell.  Match time is noon.
