Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Records 3-2 Win Over Nyack

Goldey-Beacom shook off a major challenge from Nyack and remained in second place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with a 3-2 victory over Nyack at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

Nyack woke everyone up in the fifth minute when Alexis Missett rebounded Anna-Maria Vandyk's initial shot and scored for a 1-0 lead.  GBC senior Elena Power (Glassboro, NJ) six minutes later rebound a shot from freshman Alanna Speaks (Wilmington, DE) for a 1-1 tie and her fourth tally of the year.

Freshman Taylor Owen (East Pennsboro, PA) then got her fourth of the season, putting a 10-yard shot following Speaks' pass inside the right post in the 38th minute for a 2-1 GBC lead.  But the Warriors answered 47 seconds after intermission with Camila Parada scoring and Abisag Ramirez adding the helper for a 2-2 draw.

Finally, the Lightning took the lead for good in the 48th minute.  Junior Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) launched a corner kick from the right side that senior Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, PA) bodied in for her first goal of the year.

Speaks' two assists now puts her at 24 points, already tied for the seventh-best single-season mark in school history.

Not only do the Lightning (9-2-1, 7-1 CACC) keep their place in the standings and their best start in league history, but their seven league wins are one shy of tying the school record.

Speaks and Owen recorded seven shots apiece with junior Marta Lopez (Valencia, Spain) making three saves for the Lightning.

Greta Enloe played great for the Warriors with 16 saves as the Lightning peppered her with a 32-7 shots edge.  Missett notched three shots.

Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday makes the trip to Lakewood, NJ to battle first-place Georgian Court (8-0), starting at 3:30 pm.
