Goldey-Beacom made the long journey to Newport News, VA to see its teams compete at the CNU Invitational.

Junior Jono Hooper (Brisbane, Australia) again was the man for the Lightning, closing seventh in 27:08 to help his unit finish third with 69 points. Sophomore Adam Quann (Pennsville, NJ) ended 18th in 28:49, Chauncey Nichols (New Castle, DE) was 23rd in 29:50 and fellow freshman Jon Roberts (Wilmington, DE) closed 25th in 30:13.

Christopher Newport won with 21 points.

The Lightning were bitten by the injury bug during the race and only had four complete the 6,000 meters even though five started. Senior Crystal McCollum (Elkton, MD) was 13th in 26:46, Cara Jones (Wilmington, DE) ended 24th in 28:28, fellow freshman Brittany Delgado (Hamilton, NJ) finished 31st in 31:19 and junior Kayla Lucas (Port Deposit, MD) was 36th in 46:59.

Eastern Mennonite took the crown with 20 points.

Next up for Goldey-Beacom is the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship, which will take place Sunday, October 22 at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, DE. GBC is the host school.
