Volleyball Notches a Pair of 3-0 Wins



Goldey-Beacom opened its tri-match with a big 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win (25-20, 25-23, 25-23) at Georgian Court before a 3-0 non-league triumph (25-11, 25-8, 25-17) over Bowie State in Lakewood, NJ.
 
The Lightning in the opener dominated the Lions over the final two sets with a 33-18 kills edge.  The third set was the more impressive one with a 19-9 kills advantage and a .441 hitting percentage.
 
Freshman Breanne Haley (Elkton, MD) had 17 kills and 15 digs for her 17th double-double of the season for the Lightning.  Jax Babezki (Warrington, PA) pounded 11 kills, fellow senior Jada Canteen (Newark, DE) added 10, junior Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) dished 24 assists, Sydney Fulton (Wilmington, DE) contributed 19 and fellow freshman Morgan Andrews (Wilmington, DE) added 14 digs.
 
Peggy Rosario notched 16 kills and a .405 percentage, Ashley Pierson dished 15 assists and Gaby Merced added 17 digs for the Lions (10-17, 9-6 CACC).
 
Goldey-Beacom (11-15, 9-6) moves into a tie with Georgian Court for third place in the league with four matches remaining.
 
The second match provided more of the same with Goldey-Beacom getting a 31-14 kills edge with 11 kills in each of the first two sets.  The Lightning had a .364 percentage with the Bulldogs recording a .000 mark.
 
Haley and Babezki had eight kills apiece, sophomore Makinsie Balderson (Fairfax, VA) pounded seven, Florence dished 16 assists and Fulton added 14.

Haley now is at 388 kills, which moves her into third place on the College's single-season list.
 
Bianca Tucker dished seven assists and Oladia Menchaca added five for Bowie State (4-20).
 
Goldey-Beacom is home Tuesday against Wilmington (DE) for a 7:00 pm match.
