Volleyball Notches 3-0 Win Over Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom dominated almost the entire match in completing its first season sweep of Chestnut Hill since 2009 with a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference triumph (25-15, 25-19, 25-22) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning in the first set had 10 kills and just one error for a .409 hitting percentage, thanks to freshman Breanne Haley (Elkton, MD) recording five kills.  GBC then had 13 kills in each of the final two sets to end with a 36-25 advantage to go with a .308 percentage.

Haley, named CACC Rookie of the Week for a fourth time this season, had 14 kills and 12 digs for her 16th double-double of the season along with six aces that were one short of her season high.  She now has 363 kills this season, already the fourth-best single-season mark in team history.

Junior Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) dished 16 assists to give her 1,796 career, keeping her in third place in school history for the Lightning (9-15, 8-6 CACC).  Freshman Sydney Fulton (Wilmington, DE) recorded 14 assists and senior Jax Babezki (Warrington, PA) added eight kills.

Samantha Gelfan pounded eight kills, Kennedy Sutton dished 21 assists, Peyton Reno notched 13 digs and Reily Byxbee added 10 for the Griffins (8-18, 7-7).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday faces Georgian Court in a league match at 11:00 am and immediately after faces Bowie State.  Both take place in Lakewood, NJ.
