Men's Soccer Loses, 3-1, to Regionally Ranked District of Columbia


 
Goldey-Beacom's Men's Soccer squad lost at the District of Columbia, ranked seventh in the NCAA East Region, 3-1 to snap the former's 10-game unbeaten streak and four-game shutout streak that were both school records.

Senior Mateus Silvestre (Picarras, Brazil) scored the lone goal for the Lightning in the 56th minute. Sophomore Nicolas Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) crossed the ball into the box for Silvestre's fifth goal of the season.

The Firebirds (13-4) took over the game early with goals from Thomas Alvarez in the 15th minute and Raphael Pacano in the 29th minute. Kelvin Herrera scored the final goal in the 89th minute off a failed clear. District of Columbia outshot Goldey-Beacom, 23-11.

Junior Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) recorded nine saves for the Lightning.

Goldey-Beacom (13-4-1) begins its CACC Tournament journey on Monday, October 30th at 2:00 pm. It will play at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field with its opponent to be determined.
