Goldey-Beacom's women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Caldwell during its final 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular-season match.
Junior Sophie Greenwood (Burnley, England) received a beautiful cross into the box from freshman Taylor Owen (East Pennsboro, PA) in the 55th minute for her third goal of the season and a 1-0 GBC lead.
Ten minutes later, the Cougars (7-8-1, 6-4-1 CACC) responded with a header from Stephanie Faust off a corner kick from Samantha Pereira.
Junior Marta Lopez (Valencia, Spain) snatched six crucial saves for the Lightning (10-4-2, 8-3-1).
Daniela Lucca came up with five saves for Caldwell.
The Lightning return to the pitch for a non-conference matchup at Queens (NY) on Friday starting at 1:00 pm.
Goldey-Beacom's seeding in the CACC Tournament will be determined by the Tuesday featuring Jefferson at Wilmington (DE). If Wilmington defeats Jefferson, Goldey-Beacom is the four seed with a home match versus Jefferson in the quarterfinals. If Jefferson beats Wilmington, the Lightning are the five seed for a road game at Wilmington. In the event of a draw, Goldey-Beacom attains a five seed for an away match at Jefferson.
The CACC Tournament quarterfinals are on Tuesday, October 31.
