Goldey-Beacom's red-hot play is not limited to the regular season as it posted a 5-0 victory over University of the Sciences in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinals in Middlebury, CT.

Goldey-Beacom (10-0) advances to its second straight CACC final, looking to defend its crown, and awaits the winner of the second semifinal between No. 2 seed Concordia (NY) and third-seeded Wilmington (DE).  The final is Saturday at noon.

The Lightning's start is one victory short of their best opening in school history, accomplished last season when it went to the NCAA Tournament for a sixth time.  This marks the first time they have played in the CACC final in consecutive years since going three straight times from 2009-11.

GBC got things rolling with three doubles wins.  Freshmen Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands) and Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal) notched an 8-3 win at first doubles over Karla Miletic and Abbygail Gamarnik, sophomore Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) and freshman Fredrika Regner (Langaryd, Sweden) got an 8-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles vs. Elkanah Linder and Danielle Paran with sophomore Alma Garcia Valle (Valladolid, Spain) and junior Manuela Cornejo (Quito, Ecuador) recording an 8-4 victory at third singles against Julia James and Gabrielle Soriano

The Lightning then made quick work of the two points needed in singles.  Regner got a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at fourth singles over Paran with Garcia Valle recording a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles over Jillyan Serrano.

The victory comes one day after the league's yearly awards were presented.  Regner was named Rookie of the Year, Hortelano Pey was tabbed first team a second straight year, Zheng was named first team, Lesscher y Post was picked second team and Joe Kissel for the fourth time was tabbed Coach of the Year.

USciences closes its fall season 7-5.
