Men's Soccer Clinches Home Tournament Game with Win over Holy Family

Goldey-Beacom Men's Soccer clinched a home game for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament with its 7-0 victory over Holy Family at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field.

Junior Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) put away the first goal of the game in the eight minute off an assist from sophomore Nicolas Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia).

Junior Callum Flynn (Guildford, England) struck two consecutive goals (13th and 14th minutes) for his seventh and eighth scores of the season.

Aghrim scored again after he pulled off a double scissors move and placed the ball under the crossbar for his ninth goal of the season (22nd minute). The NCAA Division II assists leader also added two assists to make it 13 on the season.

Freshman Nicholas Ladeira (Johannesburg, South Africa) set up Jaramillo's score with a beautiful back heel pass in the 29th minute.

The final goal of the first half came off the foot of freshman Alejandro Varela (Cali, Colombia) in the 42nd minute for his fifth goal of the season.

After the 6-0 Lightning burst in the first half, senior Lorenzo Gama (Bali, Indonesia) added one last goal in the 51st minute.

GBC also tied the school record by extending its unbeaten streak to nine games (8-0-1).  The school record was established in 2001 with a nine-game winning streak.

The Tigers (3-12, 2-8 CACC) struggled to gain any offense being outshot 27-5. Goalkeeper Mark Pohl recorded eight saves.

Goldey-Beacom (12-3-1, 8-2-1) returns to the pitch Saturday at Caldwell for an 11:00 am CACC match.
