Volleyball Rolls to 3-0 Victory at Bowie State

It was a solid performance up and down the board as Goldey-Beacom opened its 2016 season with a resounding 3-0 triumph (25-13, 25-12, 25-13) at Bowie State in Bowie, MD.

If the first set was not good enough with a .391 hitting percentage, Goldey-Beacom went to town in the last two sets with 16 kills and only two errors apiece.  It had a .412 percentage in the second set, .500 in the third and .435 for the match.

Junior Jada Canteen (Newark, DE) had 12 kills, only three off her career best, to go with just two errors and a .526 hitting percentage.  Senior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE) recorded 10 kills, just one error, 11 digs and a .474 percentage with sophomore Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) dishing 35 assists.

Freshman Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) amassed eight kills and nine digs with junior Jax Babezki (Warrington, PA) pounding seven kills for the Lightning (1-0), who won in the debut of Bob Trinsey as head coach.

It also marks the second straight year the GBC posted a 3-0 season-opening win over Bowie State.  Last year's triumph was a neutral-site match in West Chester, PA.

Breiona Garrison had two kills and six digs for the Bulldogs (0-2), who totaled a .017 percentage.

Goldey-Beacom is home Thursday against Cheyney, starting at 7:00 pm.
