Game Recap: Volleyball |

Olivia Florence Reaches 1,000 Assists in Volleyball’s Loss to Philadelphia U.

Sophomore Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) became the fifth player in school history to reach 1,000 assists for Goldey-Beacom in its 3-0 loss (17-25, 18-25, 23-25) to Philadelphia University at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

One of the league's most reliable players and a solid competitor, Florence closed the night with 31 assists and now stands at 1,002.  She began her career last year with the sixth-best single-season mark, dishing 707.

The Rams (12-3, 5-0 CACC) in the opening set scored the first 12 points and finished with a 14-9 kills edge.  The Lightning battled in the second set, but could not overcome seven attack errors to just three for the visitors.

GBC held a 14-12 kills advantage in the third set and had the set tied at 23.  But Courtney Wensel followed a Lightning service error with a kill to end the match.

Freshman Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) pounded 13 kills and Florence added eight digs for the Lightning (4-5, 1-5).

Wensel had 11 kills and 14 digs, Corinne Justus notched 11 kills and Alexis Leddy added 15 digs for the Rams.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday plays its fourth match in five days as it visits West Chester.  First serve is at 4:00 pm.
