Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Posts 1-0 Blanking of Chestnut Hill

Freshman Kiera Young (Aberdeen, MD) scored early in the match and Goldey-Beacom won for the third time in its last four games with a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Chestnut Hill in Plymouth Meeting, PA.

Goldey-Beacom for the seventh time this season took a 1-0 lead and this time in the 15th minute it was freshman Young who did the honors.  She corralled a pass from junior Amy Runciman (Luton, England) and put a shot to the bottom right corner for her first collegiate goal.

Runicman's assist was her 20th career and she becomes the sixth player in school history to reach 50 career points.

Senior Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX) made five saves and now has 13 career shutouts, moving her one behind Stephanie Steele (2003-06) for the top spot in school history.  Runciman had eight shots to help GBC own a decided 22-12 edge.

Sabrina Shinkowitz took four shots and Meghan Guagenti made four saves over 45 minutes for the Griffins (1-7, 0-5 CACC).

GBC (7-2, 4-1) moves into a third-place tie in the CACC with Caldwell (4-1) and is three points in back of first-place Georgian Court (5-0).

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against Felician as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.  The women's game starts at 1:00 pm, followed by the men's 3:15 pm match.
