Women’s Soccer Draws, 1-1, With Felician

Goldey-Beacom and Felician went to overtime for the fourth consecutive time in the series and the squads played to a 1-1 tie at Caravel Academy in Bear, DE.

Felician grabbed the 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute when a failed clear resulted in Amanda Nowak getting the ball and rocketing home a 10-yard shot for her sixth goal of the season.

GBC in the 60th minute leveled the match, 1-1.  Senior Jane Grimley (Franklinville, NJ) had the ball on the left and fed a cross to junior Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, PA), who put it in from six yards for her third goal of the season.

The game went into overtime thanks to a spectacular save from Lightning senior Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX), who dove to her right to rob Danielle Stoll in the 90th minute.  Aguirre made two more saves in the second overtime as the Lightning ran their unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1).

Aguirre closed with six saves and junior Amy Runciman (Luton, England) attempted five shots for the Lightning (7-2-1, 4-1-1 CACC), who now sit in third place by themselves in the league.

Nowak had five shots and Bjonda Ademi made three saves for the Golden Falcons (2-6-1, 1-4-1), who are unbeaten in their last 10 games vs. the Lightning (7-0-3).

The four overtime games in this run have produced three draws and one Felician win.
