Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Does it Again With 2-0 Victory at Bloomfield

Goldey-Beacom continued its first-half dominance with a pair of goals and stayed red-hot with a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at Bloomfield in Bloomfield, NJ.

Senior Courtney Casterlin (Chenango Forks, NY) got her first start of the season and made it count with her second career goal, which both have been game-winning tallies.  She received a pass from junior Amy Runciman (Luton, England) and scored in the ninth minute to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.

For Runciman, her 19 career assists already had her second in school history and her 49 points are just two behind Kelli Parsons (2003-06) for fifth place.

The margin grew to 2-0 in the 33rd minute when sophomore Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) converted a penalty kick for her second goal of the season and eighth career.  It capped a half in which GBC outshot Bloomfield, 9-1, as part of a 12-7 margin for the contest.

Of the 15-6 scoring edge the Lightning have enjoyed this season, they have outscored their opponents 10-1 in the first half.  Last season, GBC had a 22-19 advantage over the first 45 minutes of its games.

Becca Cordo (Roosevelt, NJ) attempted three shots and fellow senior Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX), who joined Runciman on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll, made five saves for the Lightning.  GBC (6-2, 3-1 CACC) has won its last three meetings with Bloomfield by a combined 11-0 and sit tied for fourth place in the league with Wilmington (DE).

Adeline Argabrite came up with seven saves for the Bears (0-7, 0-4).

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Wednesday to visit Chestnut Hill at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting, PA.  The women's game is at 7:00 pm, which follows the men's 4:30 pm contest.
