Volleyball Holds Off USciences for 3-1 Win



Goldey-Beacom slammed the door on University of the Sciences in the fourth set and notched its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory of the year, 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-20) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
GBC (3-2, 1-2 CACC) held an 8-0 lead the fourth set and was tied at 20 before winning the last five points to close the match.  Junior Jax Babezki (Warrington, PA) had two kills in the final run and the Lightning took advantage of three errors.
 
The Lightning, who finished the match with a 61-37 kills advantage, owned a 15-7 kills lead with only four errors in the set and had a .314 hitting percentage vs. a .000 tally for the Devils.
 
Freshman Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) had the best match of her young career with a season-best 19 kills to go with nine digs and a .350 percentage.  Senior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE) posted 18 kills to match her career best, sophomore Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) dished 49 assists that are two off her personal best and freshman Makinsie Balderson (Fairfax, VA) had a season-high 20 digs for the Lightning.
 
Cassandra Moy amassed 11 kills, Meghan Nuff totaled 30 assists with Christine Irerra and Rhiannon Comia getting 14 digs apiece for the Devils (2-4, 1-2).
 
GBC had at least 15 kills in each of the four sets and have won three of the last five meetings with USciences.
 
Goldey-Beacom hits the road Saturday to face Dominican (NY), beginning at noon.
