Volleyball Falls, 3-0, to Nyack



Goldey-Beacom could not hold a second-set lead and was dealt its second straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference setback, 3-0 (20-25, 25-27, 13-25) by Nyack at the Jones Center.
 
The Lightning had the lead for most of the second set, but could not hang on even though they fought off two set points.  Nyack eventually took advantage of two errors over the final points and won a set in which it had 15 kills, only two errors and a .433 hitting percentage.
 
Nyack only needed 10 kills in the finale, including three from Alexus Winters, to close the match.  The visitors ended with a 37-34 kills edge with a .299 percentage.
 
Winters had 10 kills and 16 digs, Kelsi Collins totaled 11 digs, Olivia Denny closed with 12 assists and Megan Ma'afala-Maiava amassed nine kills for the Warriors (3-7, 2-0 CACC).
 
Senior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE) and freshman Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) both had 11 kills and nine digs with sophomore Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) amassing 30 assists and nine digs for GBC (3-1, 1-1).
 
Goldey-Beacom is home Wednesday against University of the Sciences, beginning at noon.
