Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Second Half Magic for Women’s Soccer Leads to 2-0 Win Over Concordia

Goldey-Beacom controlled play most of the way and got second-half goals from senior Becca Cordo (Roosevelt, NJ) and junior Amy Runciman (Luton, England) in a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Concordia (NY) at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

A 9-2 shots edge in the first half for GBC was great, but there were no goals to show for it.  A 7-4 advantage after intermission was even better and it helped continue the best start in school history for the Lightning (5-1, 2-0 CACC).

The home side finally cracked the scoreboard in the 53rd minute when Cordo received a pass from sophomore Sophie Woods (Manchester, England) and banged one home inside the left post for her first goal of the season and ninth career.

Runciman continued her immaculate play in the 77th minute, giving GBC a much-needed insurance marker.  She corralled a feed from sophomore Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) and put one home for her third goal of the season and 15th career.

That goal tied Runciman for ninth place in school history with Megan Harvis (2014-15) and Renee Brechter (2002).  Runciman's 48 career points puts her in sole possession of sixth in team annals.

Senior Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX) made five saves for her 11th career clean sheet with Runciman and Cordo each totaling three shots for the Lightning.

Jimena Garcia Risoto attempted four shots and Stephanie Wilczynski came up with nine saves for the Clippers (1-4, 0-3).

Goldey-Beacom is home Tuesday vs. Georgian Court, beginning at 3:00 pm.
