Chahin Aghrim Nets a Pair for Men’s Soccer in 3-0 Win over UDC



Sophomore Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) notched his first career brace and senior Rerom Delys (Vila Velha, Brazil) had two assists for Goldey-Beacom, which posted a 3-0 victory over the District of Columbia at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.
 
Aghrim in the 15th minute put away the only goal his side would need.  Delys won a 50/50 ball in the box and worked it to Aghrim, who put it home for a 1-0 GBC lead.
 
The margin doubled in the 68th minute thanks to Aghrim's fourth career goal.  Junior Alvaro Martinez (Zaragoza, Spain) placed a perfect corner kick from the right side on the forehead of Aghrim, who headed it just under the cross bar.
 
The Lightning made it 3-0 in the 82nd minute when, after Delys' initial shot was blocked, junior Mateus Silvestre (Picarras, Brazil) buried the rebound for his second goal of the season and fifth career.
 
Junior Lorenzo Gama (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) attempted four shots and sophomore Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) totaled three saves for GBC, which closed with a 15-9 shots edge and have outscored its opponents 10-5 this season.
 
Gabriel Torres and Kevin Claure Guzman each attempted three shots for the Firebirds (0-5).
 
Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against Concordia (NY) as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men's game starts after 3:15 pm, which follows the women's 1:00 pm contest.
