Volleyball Dealt 3-1 Loss at Philadelphia U.



Goldey-Beacom grabbed the first set against a very-strong outfit in Philadelphia University, but in the end was handed a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (25-21, 14-25, 23-25, 20-25) in Philadelphia, PA.
 
The Lightning in the first set pounded 14 kills and had just three errors for a .367 hitting percentage.  The squad only managed eight kills in the second set before the Rams over the final two sets recorded 23 kills and just seven errors for a .341 percentage.
 
Senior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE), a reigning member of the CACC Weekly Honor Roll, notched 15 kills and 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the season and third in the last four matches.  She now has a career-best 291 kills on the season, moving her into 10th place on the school's single-season list.
 
Freshman Lindsay Przywara (Middletown, DE) amassed 19 kills, sophomore Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) recorded 38 assists and freshman Makinsie Balderson (Fairfax, VA) totaled 13 digs for the Lightning (11-14, 6-12).
 
Przywara now stands eight on the Lightning's single-season kills list at 318.

Courtney Wensel totaled 16 kills and 19 digs, Amber Johnson pounded 11 kills, Alexandra Harrington notched 33 assists and Alexis Leddy recorded 10 digs for the Rams (24-4, 16-1), who already had clinched the CACC South Division crown.
 
Goldey-Beacom ends its regular season Saturday against Chestnut Hill in a noon match.
