Volleyball Rallies Twice in 3-0 Victory at University of the Sciences

Goldey-Beacom posted huge comebacks in each of the first two sets and then cruised in the third for a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory (25-23, 25-19, 25-11) at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, PA.

The Lightning (11-13, 6-11 CACC) in the first set were in a 20-15 hole before using a 10-3 run to grab the early lead.  Five consecutive errors for USciences brought GBC to a 24-23 lead before two-time reigning CACC Player and Rookie of the Week Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) closed the set with a kill.

The Devils (6-15, 4-13) held a 14-7 lead in the second when the Lightning rattled off the next 10 points for a 17-14 margin.  Senior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE) was the catalyst behind this run with five kills and closed the set with seven to go with a .400 hitting percentage.

GBC held a 13-10 cushion in the third before ending the match on a 12-1 run.  Freshman Makinsie Balderson (Fairfax, VA) took matters into her own hands with six aces in the run to help the Lightning score the last 10 points.

McCarthy recorded 16 kills, nine digs and a .424 percentage with Przywara amassing 10 kills and 12 digs for her sixth double-double of the season and fourth in her last six matches.  Sophomore Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) totaled 25 assists and Balderson had six aces to go with eight digs.

Meghan Nuff totaled 16 assists and 11 digs with Christine Irerra getting 12 digs for USciences.
