Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Records Big 2-1 Victory at Dominican (NY)

Goldey-Beacom got first-half goals from juniors Declyn Brown (Glasgow, Scotland) and Omar Hernandez (West Grove, PA) in recording a big 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at Dominican (NY) in Orangeburg, NY.

Brown found the back of the net in the 10th minute to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.  He received a pass from sophomore Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) and found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season.

Hernandez gave GBC some much-needed breathing room in the 32nd minute for a 2-0 lead.  He scored an unassisted tally for his second goal of the season and 11th career, tying junior Fernando Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) for 10th place in school history.

Dominican got one back in the 86th minute when James Gragson received a pass from Sergio Monton and netted his third goal of the year for a 2-1 deficit.

The home side had a corner kick in the 89th minute, but could not convert and the Lightning snapped their 12-game losing streak against the Chargers.  GBC (7-3-1, 5-1-1 CACC) recorded a 9-8 shots edge and sophomore Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) came up with three saves.

Gragson attempted four shots and Steven Hegner made two saves for the Chargers (4-8, 3-4).

GBC is in second place in the league, just two points behind Concordia (6-2) with one game in hand.

Goldey-Beacom plays three home games next week, beginning Tuesday against Philadelphia U.  Game time is 3:30 pm.
