Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Dealt Heartbreaking Overtime Loss by Philadelphia U.

A game that featured chances for each side ended with Goldey-Beacom giving up a goal 5:17 into overtime for a tough 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to Philadelphia University at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning played most of the second half and all of overtime a man down, but still had chances to grab the lead.  Alvaro Martinez (Zaragoza, Spain) put a solid attempt wide left in the 81st minute and fellow junior Declyn Brown (Glasgow, Scotland) saw his shot in the 84th minute sail wide right.

The Rams' first great attempt in overtime saw Valdo Jean-Baptiste put a shot on frame in close, but sophomore Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) dove to his right for an incredible save.

However, Jean-Baptiste got his revenge for the game-winner.  Following a corner kick from Jason Rocha, Rashaan Robe got a toe on the ball and Jean-Baptiste cleaned it up for his first goal of the season.

Brown, junior Lorenzo Gama (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and freshman Nicolas Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) each had three shots with Bismilla making four saves for GBC (7-4-1, 5-2-1 CACC), which remains in second place in the league.

Hunter Dyson came off the bench to take four shots and Eric Gutierrez made three saves for the Rams (3-8-2, 2-5-1).

Goldey-Beacom is home Thursday against Shippensburg, beginning at 3:30 pm.
