Volleyball Falls, 3-1, to Caldwell



A strong opening set for Goldey-Beacom could not carry over the remainder of the match in the squad's 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (25-20, 15-25, 16-25, 14-25) to Caldwell at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The Lightning (6-10, 3-8 CACC) were on a roll in the first set with a 19-9 kills edge and an impressive .556 hitting percentage.  Freshman Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) had seven kills and a .417 percentage in the set and sophomore Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) amassed 17 assists.
 
Caldwell evened the match with a 13-12 kills advantage in the second set and won it with a 13-8 cushion in each of the two final sets.  The third set saw the Cougars post a .522 percentage and just one error with Katrina Jansssen getting five kills.
 
Przywara continued to shine with 16 kills and senior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE) had 11 and 11 digs for her third double-double of the season.  Junior Jax Babezki (Warrington, PA) had 10 kills, Florence dished 40 assists and freshman Makinsie Balderson (Fairfax, VA) totaled 12 digs.
 
Janssen had 17 kills and 12 digs, Taryn Auyong pounded 17 kills, Jordan Hoffman dished 22 assists, Gabrielle Bennett had 21 and Jessica Mitchell contributed 11 digs for the Cougars (14-9, 7-4).
 
Goldey-Beacom is on the road Wednesday to face Wilmington, starting at 7:00 pm in Newark, DE.
