Cross Country Teams Open the Season at the Wilmington Invitational

Goldey-Beacom had solid performances all around in its season-opening meet at the Wilmington Invitational, held at Carousel Park.

The men's squad ended third overall and was paced by senior Aaron Easter (Elkton, MD), who ended third in 29:32.05. Easter averaged 5:56.5 per mile after making the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference team last year.

Sophomore Victor Rueda-Jimenez (Milford, DE) was 11th in 31:28.67, senior Jonathan Mbwiri (Newark, DE) ended 22nd in 33:32.94, junior Rudy Braxton (Bear, DE) closed 28th in 34:46.16 and sophomore Solomon Cox (Rehoboth Beach, DE) was 32nd in 36:34.32.

Wilmington (DE) took the men's team title with 27 points and GBC had 82. The Lightning upended CACC rivals U. of the Sciences and Holy Family in the process.

The women sent four to the course and it was sophomore Jordan Dodson (Port Deposit, MD) leading the way, ending 11th in 22:43.10. Senior Sarah Grzybowski (Wilmington, DE) closed 39th in 27:10.13, freshman Kayla Lucas (Port Deposit, MD) was 47th in 31:09.44 and senior Leshae Lee (Edgewood, MD) finished 49th in 32:30.22.

GBC did not have a team score with fewer than the required five runners. Georgian Court won with 41 points.

Goldey-Beacom is back in action September 19 at the Kutztown DII/DIII Challenge in Kutztown, PA.
