Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Falls, 3-0, at Chowan

Goldey-Beacom ran into a red-hot squad in Chowan for its season opener and ended up on the wrong end of a 3-0 contest in Murfreesboro, NC.

Chowan, which opened play Thursday with a 4-0 win over Mount Olive, today wasted little time getting the first goal in the eighth minute.  Mike Dowling took a free kick from Jason Bradbury and found the back of the net to open the scoring.

The Hawks doubled the margin to 2-0 in the 17th minute.  Christian Funes launched a corner kick and Barkan Koeprueluegil headed it home for his first goal of the year.

Chowan needed only 42 seconds in the second half to make it 3-0 with Terell Williamson scoring inside the near post.

Freshman Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) played solidly in his collegiate debut, making seven saves for the Lightning (0-1).  Freshman Callum Flynn (Guildford, England) took three shots and sophomore Manuel Berto (Valencia, Spain) had two.

Terell Williamson attempted six shots and Koeprueluegil had five for Chowan (2-0).  Marco Lujan ended with three saves.

Goldey-Beacom returns to the pitch Sunday at Mount Olive as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men's contest starts at 4:00 pm, which follows the women's 1:00 pm match.
