Men’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Rain-Soaked Game at Mount Olive

Goldey-Beacom won the shots battle in a contest that took more than four hours to complete, but on the scoreboard fell short in a 1-0 loss at Mount Olive in Mount Olive, NC.

The game witnessed two weather delays that totaled more than two hours before they actually completed 90 minutes of play.

Mount Olive got on the board in the 55th minute when Cooper Gaypia found the back of the net 3 1/2 hours after the teams kicked off at 4:00 pm.  He picked up a loose ball in the box and put it into an open net to commence the scoring.

The Lightning outshot the Trojans 12-6 with sophomore Cameron Wilkinson (Terrigal, Australia) getting three shots for the visitors.  Gaypia had three shots for the home side.

Freshman Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) made two saves for Goldey-Beacom (0-2) and Liam Fautley had three for Mount Olive (1-1).
