Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Falls, 3-0, to Post

Goldey-Beacom played solidly against one of the elite in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, but in the end was dealt a 3-0 loss at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

Post scored the only goal it would need in the 25th minute when Lexxi Carroll picked up a loose ball and shot it into the bottom left corner.  The margin doubled to 2-0 in the 43rd minute as Sylvia Yanez lofted a perfect kick from 25 yards just under the crossbar.

The Eagles increased the margin to 3-0 in the 63rd minute when Katharina Mertz floated a corner kick from the left side that Carroll booted home for her second goal of the game and third of the year.

GBC (1-6, 1-4 CACC) battled throughout and ended with a 14-13 shots edge, but could not find the back of the net.  Cliona Crammond (Wickow, Ireland), fellow freshman Rachel Geissler (Franklinville, NJ) and sophomore Amy Runciman (Luton, England) each had three shots for the Lightning.

Carroll and Sam Rodriguez ended with four shots apiece and Laura Morgan had four saves for the Eagles (4-3-1, 4-0-1).

Goldey-Beacom is home Thursday to face Chowan for a 1:00 pm match.
