Runciman’s Hat Trick Lifts Women’s Soccer to 100th Victory in 6-0 Triumph Over Chowan

Amy Runciman (Luton, England) eschewed her passing skills to record her first career hat trick and fellow sophomore Kelsey Vick (Clarksboro, NJ) added two goals for Goldey-Beacom, which rolled to a 6-0 victory over Chowan in Hockessin, DE for the program's 100th win.

Runciman last year ended 67th in the country in assists per contest, but today it was her scoring prowess that made the difference.  She raised her goal total to five on the season, putting her in the team lead.

Vick opened the scoring in the seventh minute by taking a long pass from sophomore Halle Thomas (Mantua, NJ) and depositing it inside the left post.  Runciman in the 28th minute was taken down in the box and that led to a penalty kick, which she converted for a 2-0 GBC lead.

Vick made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute by cleaning up a loose ball in front and scoring with junior Becca Cordo (Roosevelt, NJ) getting the assist.  Runciman in the 51st minute got her second when she put away the initial shot from senior Megan Harvis (Delran, NJ).

Junior Jane Grimley (Franklinville, NJ) got her first of the season and fourth career when Runciman in the 55th minute hit her with a great pass and she placed it inside the right post, making it 5-0.  Runciman closed the scoring in the 89th minute off Harvis' second assist of the match.

Runciman ended with six shots and Harvis had five for the Lightning (2-6), who ended with a 26-3 shots edge.  Junior Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX) only had to make one save.

Marissa Ghani closed with 10 saves for the Hawks (1-8).
