Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Handed 2-1 Loss at Philadelphia U.

Goldey-Beacom fought off multiple shots from Philadelphia U. and held its own, but was dealt a 2-1 loss by Philadelphia U. in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play in Philadelphia, PA.

Junior Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX) played great in goal for the Lightning with eight first-half saves and the Rams mounted a tremendous charge.  But the Philadelphia U. came through with 1:24 left in the half when Nicole Raab scored from 14 yards off a pass from Julia Teixeira.

The Rams got an insurance tally in the 77th minute as Carla Chmielwski fired a shot inside the penalty area inside the left post.

The Lightning made things interesting in the 82nd minute when, in a two-on-one, Kelsey Vick (Clarksboro, NJ) redirected home a pass from fellow sophomore Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, PA) for her second goal of the season and fifth career to make it 2-.

Aguirre made nine saves, two off her career best, and Turner-Rush attempted two shots for the Lightning (1-4, 1-2 CACC).

Morgan Graus had six shots, Chmielwski took four and Courtney Shaw came up with two saves for the Rams (3-4, 2-2), who closed with 26 shots.

Goldey-Beacom does not have long to recover as it faces Felician on Thursday in a rescheduled game at 6:00 pm in Lyndhurst, NJ.  Please note Felician plays its games at the Lyndhurst Recreation Center and not on campus.
