Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Notches 3-1 Victory vs. Chestnut Hill

Sophomore Amy Runciman (Luton, England) and junior Becca Cordo (Roosevelt, NJ) scored second-half goals for Goldey-Beacom, which dominated play in the second half for a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Chestnut Hill at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

A 1-1 was broken in the 56th minute when Runciman picked up a loose ball and rocketed a 20-yard shot inside the right post for her first goal of the year and third career.

Cordo gave the Lightning a vital insurance marker in the 88th minute.  Junior Valarie Orth (Pittsgrove, NJ) got the ball and fed Cordo, who took it and blasted a 15-yard shot inside the top right corner for a 3-1 lead.

The Lightning recorded a 5-1 shots edge in the second half and closed the match with an 8-3 advantage.

Runciman, sophomore Kelsey Vick (Clarksboro, NJ) and junior Megan Harvis (Delran, NJ) each had two shots and junior Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX) made one save for GBC (1-2, 1-0 CACC).

Kayla Reno came up with two saves for the Griffins (3-2, 1-1).

Harvis opened the scoring for GBC in the seventh minute by faking out Reno and putting it inside the left post for her seventh career goal.  Morgan Ruth leveled the match for Chestnut Hill in the 16th minute on a 25-yard shot.

Goldey-Beacom is back in action Saturday at Caldwell as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.  The women's game starts at noon, followed by the men's contest at 2:30 pm.
