Volleyball Falls, 3-0, to Concordia (NY)



Goldey-Beacom unfortunately could not get into a groove and was handed a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (18-25, 18-25, 17-25) by Concordia (NY) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
On a day in which the College announced it was starting baseball, GBC could not get its swing going as it hit only .074 despite getting a 27-21 kills edge.  The Lightning tried to rally in the third set with nine kills, but were beset by eight errors.
 
Sophomore Shyanne Shank (Lebanon, PA) closed with seven kills, junior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE) amassed six and 12 digs, Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) had 13 assists, fellow freshman Ellie Fleegle (Berlin, PA) notched 10 and senior Mackenzie Wilson (Wilmington, DE) closed with nine digs for GBC (3-4, 0-1 CACC).
 
McCarthy now is at 447 career digs, just 13 shy of reaching the school's career top 10 list.
 
Sydney Darden played great with nine kills and 15 digs, Bianca Ortiz dished 14 assists and Celine Arada added 14 digs for the Clippers (1-0, 1-0).
 
Goldey-Beacom is on the road Thursday at Chestnut Hill, starting at 7:00 pm.
