Men’s Soccer Picked to Finish Ninth in the CACC

Goldey-Beacom's men's soccer team has been selected to end ninth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference based on a vote by the league's coaches.
 
Goldey-Beacom (9-9, 6-6 CACC) had a tremendous campaign last season, just missing the conference tournament on a tiebreaker.  Highlighting the returnees is sophomore Fernando Sanchez (Madrid, Spain), who was picked CACC Rookie of the Year after totaling seven goals and five assists for 19 points.  His goals place him just three outside the College's career top-10 list.
 
Omar Hernandez (West Grove, PA) also had a great freshman season last year, closing with five goals and four assists for 14 points.  Another plus for the Lightning is the fact they return eight players who started at least 10 games a season ago.
 
Last year marked the first time since 2003 that Goldey-Beacom had nine overall wins and six league triumphs.  Last season also was highlighted by the program's 200th victory since the squad's reinstatement in 1990.
 
Philadelphia University was picked to repeat with nine first-place votes
 
Goldey-Beacom opens the season September 5 at Chowan.
