Volleyball Notches 3-1 Victory Over Bowie State



Goldey-Beacom got on a roll in the third and fourth sets and took command to post a 3-1 victory (25-20, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22) over Bowie State at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The Lightning in the third set amassed a 15-7 kills edge and recorded a .222 hitting percentage.  They grabbed a 14-9 kills advantage in the fourth thanks to four kills from sophomore Shyanne Shank (Lebanon, PA) and 11 assists from freshman Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA).
 
Florence ended with 47 assists, a personal best for a four-set match and four off her career high.  Her 627 assists this year now puts her seventh in school history both for career and single season.
 
Senior Innocent Early (Newark, NJ) pounded a career-best 16 kills, freshman Ellie Fleegle (Berlin, PA) had a personal-high 14, sophomore Kelly Bolton (Oxford, PA) recorded a career-best 13, Shank notched a personal-high 15 digs, senior Mackenzie Wilson (Wilmington, DE) had 12 and freshman Keelin McEleney (Conshohocken, PA) added 11 for GBC (7-18).
 
Yaje Ngundam recorded 13 kills and 11 digs, Marissa Martinez posted 16 digs and Jasmine Ashe contributed eight kills, four block solos and three block assists for the Lady Bulldogs (7-23).
 
Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against University of the Sciences, starting at noon.
