Goldey-Beacom's men's basketball team inked a new recruit as Liam Caulder was signed as part of Team Impact.

In a press conference Thursday held after practice, Liam was presented a jersey and signed a contract that also was inked by director of athletics and men's basketball coach Chuck Hammond.  Liam's mom and siblings also were in attendance.

Liam, 14, hails from Landenberg, PA and is thrilled to become the team's newest member.  He was born with his 22Q chromosome deleted, which resulted in developmental delays and required open-heart surgery.  Furthermore, he has been diagnosed with a bleeding disorder, autism, ADHA and cerebral palsy.  Liam has very little use of his left side, especially his hand, but still epitomizes what it means to be a fighter and is sure to be an inspiration to his teammates.

Liam's favorite number is 1, his favorite color is red, and he loves tacos and shrimp.  When it comes to music, Imagine Dragons is his number one choice.  His favorite sport is football, but his favorite athlete is LeBron James.  He is the second oldest of five children in his family.

Team Impact is a national 501(c)(3) organization, based in Boston, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team.  The organization already has matched over 700 children with collegiate teams at over 300 institutions in 43 states.

Goldey-Beacom opens its season November 14 at home against New York Tech, starting at 3:00 pm.
