Women’s Soccer Clinches Spot in CACC Tournament with 6-0 Win Over Bloomfield

Senior Megan Harvis (Delran, NJ) and sophomore Amy Runciman (Luton, England) each had two goals and an assist for Goldey-Beacom, which punched its second straight trip to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 6-0 victory over Bloomfield in Wilmington, DE.

Runciman gave the Lightning the only goal they would need, converting a penalty kick in the 13th minute to get things going.  Freshman Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) then got into the act in the 41st minute, getting the ball to bounce over the goalkeeper's head for her fifth goal of the year and a 2-0 lead.

It also marks the fourth straight game Crammond scored a goal.

Junior Becca Cordo (Roosevelt, NJ) tallied 16 seconds into the second half for a 3-0 lead, depositing a cross from Harvis for her sixth goal of the year.  Harvis then scored twice in just over two minutes, one of Runciman's feed and one from sophomore Kelsey Vick (Clarksboro, NJ) for a 5-0 cushion.

Runciman, who entered the match 10th in the country in assists and 51st in points, then got her second goal of the match in the 78th minute by stealing the ball from a defender and cruising toward the net.  She now has 15 career assists that are tied with Harvis for third best in school history and her 37 points are one outside the top 10.

Runciman's nine goals this year are tied for sixth best in GBC history, her nine assists are tied for fourth and her 27 points are fourth.

Harvis, who entered 32nd in the nation in total assists, has 14 career goals that put her in sole possession of 10th place in school history and her 43 points are ninth best.  Her eight goals this year are tied for ninth, her seven assists are 10th and her 23 points are tied for eighth.

Runciman had six shots and junior Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX) made two saves for the Lightning (7-8, 5-6 CACC).  Diana Vincentini made three saves over 46 minutes for the Bears (3-9-2, 1-8-2).

This marks the first time GBC has clinched a spot in the league tournament in consecutive seasons since it went four straight years from 2003-06.  The Lightning also tied the school record for longest home winning streak with their fifth straight, also accomplished in 2002.

Goldey-Beacom is home Tuesday against Holy Family, starting at 3:00 pm.
