Volleyball Handed 3-1 Setback by Felician



Goldey-Beacom held a one-set lead and a sizable cushion in the second set, but Felician went into another gear from there and handed the home side a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (25-22, 22-25, 18-25, 20-25) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
Felician was down 15-5 in the second set, but outscored GBC 70-45 the rest of the way to stunningly take control of the match.  The Golden Falcons over the last two sets combined for a 16-13 kills edge and forced the Lightning into 20 hitting errors.
 
Junior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE) had 14 kills and 14 digs for her fourth double-double of the season.  Freshman Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) dished 41 assists, senior Mackenzie Wilson (Wilmington, DE) had 18 digs, freshman Keelin McEleney (Conshohocken, PA) recorded 14 and senior Innocent Early (Newark, NJ) added 10 kills for the Lightning (6-15, 2-11 CACC).
 
Shannon Hood was a force with 12 kills, a .345 hitting percentage and 5 1/2 blocks for Felician (5-19, 3-9).  Paulina Calero pounded 10 kills, Susie McKeever notched 24 assists and 10 digs, Niccole Soriano had 18 digs, Lanyse Castro recorded 13 and Amanda Coccia added 11.
 
Goldey-Beacom next week plays three road games, starting Tuesday at Holy Family.  Match time is 7:00 pm.
